Now that Spring has sprung, I find myself already switching from warm, hearty breakfasts such as porridge, to fruitier breakfasts like smoothie bowls.
If you have never had an acai bowl (pronounced a-sigh-ee) your in for a decadent and delicious treat! A few years back the little purple berry, native to Brazil and parts of South America, became the new exotic “superfood”! And while I hate the term “superfood”, the little acai berry sure does pack a mighty punch in the antioxidant and nutrient department!
This acai smoothie bowl is super delicious and will leave you looking forward to your alarm clock going off! Simply throw all the ingredients into a high-powered blender and add a variety of your favourite, delicious toppings and your done. Who wouldn’t make time for that!
- 2 packets unsweetened frozen acai, or if using the powder 2 tsp
- 1 cup frozen mixed berries
- 1 banana
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tbsp almond butter
- Bee pollen
- Coconut flakes
- Almond butter
- Chia seeds
- Mixed berries
- Place all the acai bowl ingredients together in a high powered blender and blend until smooth.
- Pour into two bowls and top with mixed fruit and any variety of toppings that tickle your fancy. Serves 2.
